Abstract

The two-parameter gamma distribution is widely used in statistical applications. Several methods to estimate its parameters have been proposed in the literature. Some of these methods do not have closed forms while others do. In this paper a closed formula is presented and compared with method of moments, maximum likelihood method and some other methods through simulation study. The results showed that the proposed method efficiently estimated the parameters and performed better.
