Plagiarism Policy
Introduction
Journal of Azzaytuna University (JAZU) adopts a strict policy against plagiarism and all forms of misuse of intellectual property and scholarly sources.
The journal is committed to maintaining academic integrity, protecting intellectual property rights, and ensuring that all published research meets the highest standards of originality, proper attribution, and responsible scholarly practice.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the following practices:
Similarity Screening
All submitted manuscripts are subject to similarity screening using specialized plagiarism-detection software before entering the peer-review process.
The journal adopts an indicative overall similarity threshold of no more than 25%, taking into consideration the nature of the research, references, technical terminology, methodological expressions, and commonly used academic phrases.
In addition, similarity originating from a single source should not exceed 10%, unless the nature of the scientific text provides a reasonable justification.
Similarity Exceeding the Threshold
If the overall similarity exceeds 25%, the manuscript may be returned to the author for the necessary revisions, unless the elevated similarity is found to result from direct copying, substantial unattributed use of another person's work, or clear evidence of plagiarism.
In cases of clear or serious plagiarism, the journal may reject the manuscript and take additional measures in accordance with its policy on research misconduct.
Plagiarism Discovered After Publication
If plagiarism or serious misuse of sources is discovered after publication, the journal may take one or more of the following actions, depending on the severity and circumstances of the case:
Publication of a Correction
Publish a correction when the issue can be appropriately addressed through correction.
Editorial Notice
Publish an editorial or warning notice when appropriate.
Article Retraction
Retract the article in cases involving serious plagiarism or other major violations of research integrity.
Notification of the Institution
Notify the author's affiliated institution when necessary and appropriate.
Additional Measures
Take other proportionate measures according to the seriousness of the violation.
Citation Manipulation and Source Misuse
The journal considers the manipulation of citations, fabrication of references, excessive or irrelevant self-citation, fabricated sources, and other forms of source misuse to be serious breaches of academic integrity.
All authors are expected to ensure that their manuscripts accurately acknowledge the sources, ideas, data, and contributions of others.
