Introduction

Journal of Azzaytuna University (JAZU) is committed to ensuring that authorship is granted to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research and to maintaining integrity and transparency in the attribution of authorship. The journal does not permit honorary or ghost authorship.

The journal applies clear and transparent principles for determining authorship and contributions, consistent with internationally recognized standards of academic and scholarly publishing.

Authorship Criteria

A person should be listed as an author only when they have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the research, participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it, approved the final version, and agreed to be accountable for the published work.

Scholarly Contribution

Substantial contribution to the conception, design, conduct, analysis, or interpretation of the research.

Manuscript Preparation

Participation in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

Final Approval

Approval of the final version of the manuscript before publication.

Accountability

Acceptance of responsibility and accountability for the integrity and accuracy of the published work.

Key Principle of Authorship: Administrative support, financial assistance, general supervision, or limited technical assistance alone does not justify authorship unless the individual also meets the journal's authorship criteria.

Corresponding Author

Corresponding Author
Responsible for Communication with the Journal

A corresponding author must be identified for each manuscript and is responsible for coordinating communication between all authors and the editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, and publication processes.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

✓ Communicating with the journal's editorial office.
✓ Confirming that all authors approve the submission.
✓ Providing the information and documentation requested by the journal.
✓ Disclosing any potential conflicts of interest.
✓ Ensuring the accuracy of authorship information and author order.

Author Order

The authors should determine the order of their names before submitting the manuscript to the journal. All authors are expected to agree on the order of authorship, which should fairly reflect the nature and extent of each individual's contribution to the research.

Transparency Principle: The authors are collectively responsible for agreeing on the authorship order before submission. The editorial office does not determine the order of authors unless intervention is required to address a documented authorship dispute or a violation of the journal's policy.

Changes to the Author List

No author may be added, removed, or have their position changed after manuscript submission without the written consent of all authors and a clear justification submitted to the editorial office.

Requires the agreement of all authors and a clear written justification.

Requires the agreement of all authors and documented justification.

Important: Changes to the author list or author order must not be made for improper purposes or without notifying the editorial office and obtaining the required approvals.

Non-Author Contributors

Individuals who contributed to the research but whose contribution does not meet the criteria for authorship may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, provided that their permission has been obtained before their names are included.

Examples of contributions that may be acknowledged include:
✓ Technical or administrative support
✓ Assistance with data collection
✓ Logistical assistance
✓ Institutional or technical support

Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

AI
Artificial Intelligence Tools Cannot Be Listed as Authors

Artificial intelligence tools, large language models, and AI-based software systems may not be listed as authors of manuscripts submitted to the journal. Scientific, ethical, and legal responsibility for the published work must rest with human authors who are able to take responsibility and accountability for the content.

Authors' Responsibility: Authors remain responsible for verifying the accuracy of the content, originality of the work, correctness of references and data, and any content generated or modified using artificial intelligence tools, in accordance with the journal's applicable policies.

Honorary and Ghost Authorship

The journal prohibits Honorary Authorship and Ghost Authorship. The author list must accurately reflect the actual scholarly contributions of the individuals involved in the research.

Honorary Authorship

Listing an individual as an author despite the person not meeting the journal's authorship criteria.

Ghost Authorship

Excluding an individual who made a substantial scholarly contribution from the author list without a legitimate justification.
