الملخص

The present study investigates the role and impact of integrating authentic materials into the English Language Teaching (ELT) curriculum in Libyan secondary schools. Despite the mounting evidence for the efficacy of authentic materials in enhancing communicative competence and motivation in learning environments, the Libyan context faces a number of challenges in implementing these materials on a large scale and in a systematic manner. This present study explores the theoretical underpinnings of authentic materials, their benefits for Libyan learners of English as a foreign language, and the practical challenges that teachers face. The study also puts forward strategies for effective integration. The present study synthesises extant literature and studies conducted in Libya, with the objective of providing a comprehensive overview and offering recommendations for enhancing English Language Teaching (ELT) practices in Libyan secondary schools.
